About WOW Cargo Trailers in Cochran, GA

My name is Woody Butts, Jr., and this is the story of my family and the company we’ve built — WOW Cargo Trailers.

Our journey begins with my parents, Woody Butts, Sr. and Bernease Butts. My mother was a teacher, and my father worked his way into the automobile business in the 1960s. In 1967, he partnered with Bill Goode to purchase a small Chevrolet dealership in Hawkinsville, Georgia. A few years later, they expanded to Cochran, Georgia — the town where both of my parents grew up. By 1977, Dad went out on his own, opening Woody Butts Chevrolet.

Like many family-owned businesses, times were not always easy. The oil embargo, high interest rates, and recessions in the late ’70s and ’80s tested my parents’ resolve. But through every challenge, they built their reputation on hard work, honesty, faith, and always putting the customer first.

I was born in 1971, and by the time I finished school, my father’s health was declining. I graduated from Middle Georgia College and then went on to the University of Georgia. After earning my degree in real estate, I returned home to Cochran to help my family and carry on the tradition in the car business.

For nearly 40 years (1977–2016), Woody Butts Chevrolet served our community. During the 2007–2009 financial crisis, when many rural dealerships closed, we survived by innovating online, selling vehicles across the country from a small town with just 3,500 people.

In 2012, I made the leap into a new industry — enclosed cargo trailers. I partnered with longtime friend Trent Dykes, who became our General Manager. With the lessons learned from online car sales, we applied the same model to trailers. At first, I didn’t know much about trailers, but I knew how to sell, how to market, and how to treat customers right.

That leap of faith grew into something bigger than we ever imagined.

Today, in 2025, WOW Cargo Trailers is the largest single-location enclosed trailer dealership in the United States. From Cochran, Georgia, we’ve delivered 40,000+ trailers nationwide — serving small businesses, contractors, race teams, concessionaires, and families all across America.

This is still a family business at its core. My wife, April, and I are raising our three children — Carlyn (18), Tres (16), and Jagger (13) — with the same values that my parents taught me:
